Plants that Attract Birds and Butterflies . What would a garden be without butterflies and birds ?

Planting flowers that attract butterflies is important and beneficial to your backyard garden.

Planting flowers that attract birds can be very rewarding , especially if you are a bird watcher.

One flower that does well is any variety of zinnia.

Butterflies flock to zinnias , especially the Painted Lady Butterfly

What works very well is planting the flowers that attract butterflies and birds in few different areas.   Devote a few sections of your garden to a particular flower or flowers and plant in mass . Meaning plant several flowers of the same type in one flower bed.

You will be delighted to see when summer comes around . The garden will be loaded with butterflies. Summer time is important for birds as well.

Another thing to think about is  leaving some plants for winter interest this will also attract the wild birds to your gardens.

Not only zinnias but as you see below there is many other flower species that attract butterflies.
