New Look Celosia

New Look Celosia is the 1988 AAS Winner. The botanical name is Cockscomb

As a seedling it starts out more with green foliage. This variety of Celosia has brilliant deep red with burgundy bronze foliage.  The more sun it gets the more red the foliage becomes.

Plant New Look Celosia  in a sunny location that is well drained .

If you are looking for a full compact habit then this may be the Celosia for you.. with Compact, excellent basal branching.

This plant grows to a Height of  15″ . Plant this celosia in mass plantings . The vibrant red color is so attractive in the landscape.

This variety  blooms summer into fall . The long blooming season makes this variety a must try in your garden beds.

Another added quality is it can be dried and used as dry flowers or as a cut flower.

There are many other celosia and cockscomb on the market today.  I have provided some links for you to see all the different colors and unique flower heads.

Combine this flower with yellow colored flowers to add beautiful contrast in your landscape .

Diane’s Testimonial: I grow this one every year, they also set seed and come back from seed very easily.. I have saved seed from this plant but  growing them indoors was a issue as the seed became moldy.. It does not seem to do that outside.. so maybe drench with a fungicide drench when planting the saved seed.
