Goldenrod Flower

Goldenrod Flower is a genus of about 100 to 120 species of flowering plants in the aster family, Asteraceae.

Herbaceous perennial species found in open areas such as meadows, prairies, and savannas.  This perennial is part
of the daisy family that bears tall spikes of small bright yellow flowers.

The goldenrod flower can reach 2 to 6 feet in height.

Nice arching perennial displaying sprays of color.

Fireworks Goldenrod blooms in the fall. Grows in full sun. In addition, they are easy to grow and very striking when in full color. Attracts butterflies!

Native goldenrod grows well  in ditches, terrace areas especially here in the Midwest

Deep golden yellow flowers

Leaves and flowers can be harvested summer to early autumn.  You can use these flowers fresh or dried.

Crushed leaves and flowers give off a sweet and anise-like odor, which gives the tea its flavor.

The Scientific name is (Solidago) this  Goldenrod grows wild in many parts of the states. 

Looks great growing as a perennial border, wild garden, field meadows, etc.
